PRAYER VIGIL
A 24-Hour Prayer Vigil for the Survivors of Hurricane Katrina will be held outside the front gates of the Houston Astrodome in Houston, Texas from 12am Saturday, October 8, 2005 til' 12am Sunday, October 9, 2005
FROM KATHY
I would like to inform you on a couple of things that I do not know if you know about. When New Orleans flood not only did a State Hosp flood (they take care of a lot of poor and some veterans also). But the VA Medical Center and the Veterans Benefits Administration all which is about a block away for the Super Dome also flooded. Also the VA Medical Center in Biloxi MS was damanged, she stood right across from the beach. So now veterans have to drive about 5 hours or more to be seen at a hospital and the Louisiana veterans will have to go out of state to be seen by the Administration. Just a little information to let you know.

Weep. Weep America. Put your head in your hands and weep for what these Nazi criminals have done. The US government was accused of "criminal negligence" as hopes of finding survivors faded and the death toll from Hurricane Katrina continued to rise

I personally think that CNN has done a great job
with reporting on the Katrina aftermath. The correspondents are not afraid to tell the truth or make their own comments which is not like some of the other news media reporters. Jack Lafferty is one of them for sure.
God bless them for the work they are doing.

PET RESCUE FORUM
Room Desperately Needed For the Animal Victims of Katrina - Transport Provided to Anywhere
Please pass on this information everywhere. Every forum, every list, every community.
Contact: Lynda V.
Email: Lynda@portone.com
There is transportation provided, with people ready and waiting, for upwards of 200 dogs and 150 cats so far rescued from the devastation of hurricane Katrina. What these animals need is a place to go. Kennels, boarding, vets offices, shelters with any extra space, foster homes and rescues. Even one or two open kennels would greatly help.
From what we know, all animals have been vaccinated and are in good health considering the conditions. There are dogs and cats of every breed and size. Some are in groups of two, three or four, hailing from the same family, while some are solitary. ANY KENNEL SPACE AVAILABLE CAN CERTAINLY BE USED. These drivers are willing to move these animals ANYWHERE they need to go. Absolutely anywhere.
The current safe houses for these animals are being inundated and some of these pets will have to be euthanized if they are not moved to make room for the incoming animals.
REMEMBER THESE ANIMALS WILL BE TRANSPORTED TO YOU.
If you know anyone, anywhere, that is willing to take in even one cat or dog, please have them contact Lynda at the information.
They are also asking for ANY kind of donations for the animals - money, food, bedding, water, etc.
Please contact at any time, day or night. These volunteers, rescuers and shelter workers are working around the clock.
Maybe with all of us working together, we can help save these dear innocent lives who've already suffered untold miseries. Let's do the very best we can .... please ....
Thanks'
John
LASSIE'S COMPETITION
Louisana - A hurricane survivor reported the following rescue story to CNN news.
He was trapped on top of his house during the recent flooding, when he heard mewing coming from the other side of the chimney. He walked over to the end of the roof and saw 4 kittens, he knew were part of a recently born litter belonging to the neighbor's cat. The mother and the 5th kitten were missing as was the family dog, a yellow labrador. He said he sat back down to try and figure out what to do and after a few minutes he saw the dog swimming towards the house, bearing the mother cat on his back. The cat climbed on the other roof and proceeded to carry one of the kittens back to the dog, who carried both to the near by plantation house. This process was repeated until all 5 kittens were safe in the upper level of the house. The first level was the only one flooded. The man seeing the dog succeed in this endeavor 5 times, he decided to risk the swim himself. He succeed in reaching the balcony, and found the dog, mother cat and all 5 kittens safe in an upstairs bedroom.
Comment from my friend Carol
Ya know humans should act as good as animal's. An animal will NEVER let you down!!!!! Even if you have been mean to your pet they will come to love you with out being asked to do so..Animals are as inocent as a new born baby & they depend on you to takecare of them, but most of the time its them taking care of YOU in their own little ways..

How to Help the Animals Devastated by Hurricane Katrina |
|
|
|
The stories are heartbreaking. We won't repeat all the stories we have heard and read - but one of the most horrifying was the first hand account reported by Jean Merserve on CNN about dogs in the storm surge tangled in live electrical wires howling as they were electrocuted. She also reported about the dogs being left on rooftops yelping. She was so struck by what she had seen that she could not get through the report without breaking down crying. The next morning in the live reports from New Orleans dogs could be heard yelping in the background.
Animals were abandoned by their families all over the South when the families evacuated. Thousands of dogs and cats who are used to being taken care of by their families have been left to fend for themselves - battling flood waters, fighting starvation, dehydration, rats and snakes, and criminal gangs that are shooting them. Other animals whose families stayed to protect them were taken away from their families when the families were moved into shelters because animals are not allowed in the shelters. The little boy whose small white dog was taken from him at the Astrodome by the police stood screaming "Snowball, Snowball" so many times that he vomited. The families don't know what will happen to their beloved pet. And the pets are simply devastated by the loss of their people. Shelters across the South are overflowing with dogs and cats who are shell-shocked.
There is much to be said about this but now the animals need help. Hearts United for Animals stands ready to take in dogs who are in need. We are coordinating with people from several organizations to arrange transport of dogs in need to the safety of our shelter. HUA is also making shipments of items that are needed by the rescue organizations - see the list at the link to the right. Shipments have already begun and will continue. We suggest that you take up a collection in your neighborhood and office and ship it to the organizations listed at the link to the right. In Pennsylvania donations can be taken to the Post Office in Pocopson and will be shipped for free by HUA. We can also give you a donor substantiation form for a tax deduction. Our store, ihelppets.com (http://www.nexternal.com/tss) is sending care packages to the dogs. We are offering these care packages at our cost and then we are matching them. If you send one package, we will send two.
Please do what you can to help now.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO YOUR PET??
What will happen to your companion animals if something happens to you while you are away from home? Do you have helpless animals alone at home?
Every year, thousands of animals are left abandoned in their own homes due to an unforeseen accident involving their guardians. Please don't let your animals be part of these statistics.

WHY GOD MADE PETS
They help out around the house

They protect our children ...

They look out for the smaller ones .

They show us how to relax ...

They "converse" with each other ...

They help you when you're down ...

They are great at decorating for the Holidays ...

They have "great" expectations ...

They are Patriotic ...

They are happy to "test" the water .

They love their "teddies" ...

They know who's "BOSS" ...

AND - They know when we need a good LAUGH!

It is done by moving the corners of the mouth upward.
LET ME SHOW YOU HOW..............

MOLD. . .What is it all about? Posted by David R. H.
Mold has certainly made it's way into people's homes as well as the headlines recently. Many people still don't fully understand the health hazards of fungal exposure. The term toxic mold is somewhat misleading as it connotates an idea that certain molds are toxic, when actually certain types of molds produce secondary metabolites that produce toxins. The correct term is mycotoxins. Airborne mycotoxins from can definitely destroy one's health. Sometimes, people are unaware that they are breathing mold spores and mycotoxins until they are very sick. Certain people have a minor allergic reactions to the non-toxic mold, but once you leave the affected area they most likely recover with few serious side effects. However, if they have been exposed to the dangerous molds such as Stachybotrys or Chaetomium, they could suffer from a myriad of serious symptoms and illnesses such as chronic bronchitis, learning disabilities, mental deficiencies, heart problems, cancer, multiple sclerosis, chronic fatigue, lupus, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple chemical sensitivity, bleeding lungs and much more.
This website is dedicated to the hundreds of thousands of innocent people who have lost their lives, health, and homes to this scourge as our government, insurance companies, social service organizations, and disaster management groups have ignored them in their greatest time of need. We offer the finest education, resources, and solutions regarding what everyone must know about the most devastating health hazard of this millennium. http://www.mold-help.org/ GETTING RID OF MOLD
As I've said before, and as is outlined in the very informative and life-saving book, "The Cure is the Cupboard" by Dr. Cass Ingram, OIL OF OREGANO, concentrate that is sold at health food stores and online, with the key ingredient begin Carvacrol (should be 20-27%), is most effective sprayed upon mold and other fungal spores. I have used it on carpets that had stood in the rain and were crawling with mold, and it will KILL MOLD ON CONTACT. Several official studies around the world have confirmed this. Other things, like food grade hydrogen peroxide, which is used throughout the world to clean pools, will also kill such things, but oil of oregano is especially successful in killing mold on contact. You give it one or two treatments: mold is dead. Check it out.
